Crush Confessions with The Reading Date

It's February, the month of love (or at least the month with a sappy love holiday in it) and we are celebrating with Crush Confessions. I've asked some awesome bloggers and writers to come up with a list of the boys (and girls) that make them swoon. From vampires to werewolves, jocks to Brits - we have something for everyone! So sit back, relax, and get ready to swoon.

Today's confessions comes from Lucy at The Reading Date. Lucy always has fantastic reviews and features and I love her voice. Having seen all of the great New Adult recs on her blog, I knew she would be the perfect person to ask to participate in Crush Confessions. So, without any further delay, please check out The Reading Date's New Adult crush confessions.

Thank you to Thuy for inviting me to take part in her February Crush feature! I don’t think I’ve ever made a book boyfriend list before, and this was kind of fun! My crush category is New Adult, where a lot of the guys are hot and damaged.

Hope you meet a potential new favorite book boyfriend today!

9 NA Crushes:

Rock Stars

Kellan KyleThoughtless series by S.C. Stephens

Oh, Kellan. He is the front man for the D-Bags, a Seattle bar band that hits the big time. Kellan can be best described as sex on a stick. He meets Kiera and sparks fly, only she’s the girlfriend of his best friend.  I don’t always like Kellan’s behavior, but he’s such a charmer I can’t help but have a soft sport for him. This series is very angsty but addictive.

David FerrisLick by Kylie Scott

David Ferris is the guitarist for a very famous band called Stage Dive. Evelyn happens to be in Las Vegas celebrating her 21st birthday when the band is in town. She wakes up the next morning married to David with no recollection of the night’s events. It sounds cliché but the author sells this story and makes you root for David and Evelyn despite the odds. David defies the rock star image in a way and is actually hurt that Evelyn doesn’t remember the wedding.

Lost Boys

Dean HolderHopeless & Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

Holder (as he is called) is strong and sensitive, loyal and protective. He takes things slow with Sky, and is patient and understanding as she’s working through some things. Plus, he goes running with her and cooks for her!  He has had some sadness in his life, and Sky is helping to turn that around. This quote is Holder in a nutshell:

“Sky, I'm not kissing you tonight but believe me when I tell you, I've never wanted to kiss a girl more. So stop thinking I'm not attracted to you because you have no idea just how much I am. You can hold my hand, you can run your fingers through my hair, you can straddle me while I feed you spaghetti, but you are not getting kissed tonight. And probably not tomorrow, either. I need this. I need to know for sure that you're feeling every single thing that I'm feeling the moment my lips touch yours. Because I want your first kiss to be the best first kiss in the history of first kisses.”  Colleen Hoover, Hopeless

Josh BennettThe Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

Josh has been dealt some serious blows in his life, and he lies low and doesn’t let himself get too close to anyone. All of his family is dead. Nastya is new at school, and she also has her guard up due to a traumatic event, and in fact doesn’t speak at all. The two eventually find solace in each other. Josh lost everything but he’s surviving, and building furniture. If Josh was your boyfriend you’d always have a great chair to sit on or coffee table to prop your feet on.

Julian Wyatt - Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins

Julian is a wounded ex-Marine who arrived home from Afghanistan minus a leg and with a big case of PTSD. He’s moved in with Cami’s family to recover, and Cami is the only one not willing to take his attitude. They bicker and fight but attraction is brewing beneath the surface. Julian doesn’t know who to be after coming home and he acts out a lot but his character evolves into a swoon-worthy guy.

Cute College Guys

West LeavittDeeper by Robin York (aka Ruthie Knox)

West has had a difficult family upbringing, and in fact pretty much had to raise his little sister by himself. Now he’s in college, doing odd jobs (not all of them legal) to pay for his education and support his family back home.  He has a bad boy reputation and is not known to be a one-woman guy. He has enough on his plate without falling for Caroline, but he can’t help himself. Despite his reputation, West is protective and loyal and has good intentions, plus he can bake!

Dylan Kingsley- One & Only by Viv Daniels (aka Diana Peterfreund)

Dylan is a cute, nice, bespectacled science nerd type. He gets reacquainted with his girl crush two years after they met, and now he’s dating her secret half sister oops! The two still have chemistry and their scenes in the science lab sizzle.

Tattooed Nice Guys

Bennett Reynolds- All of You by Christina Lee

In a twist, the hot tattoo artist Bennett is the one who is inexperienced sexually, while the nursing student wants to jump his bones. Bennett has his reasons for being gun shy, and Avery for not wanting to be tied down. Bennett is such an honest refreshing character. He’s hot and has morals – he wants the whole package not just one night.

Lucas MaxfieldEasy & Breakable by Tammara Webber

Lucas is last but not least on my NA crush list. In fact, if I had to pick a favorite of all these guys, it’s Lucas hands down.  He is sensitive, protective, he cooks, he draws, he loves cats, he has many jobs including self-defense instructor, and he’s smart and sexy. He is tattooed and rides a motorcycle but wears his glasses to hang out at home. I could go on, and I’m really just excited that he’s getting his own book with Breakable!

Do you have any New Adult book crushes?

Lucy has blogged about audiobooks, books and movies for over 3 years at The Reading Date. She lives in Los Angeles and bonds over YA with her teenage daughter. She likes all kinds of books, but especially contemporary.
