Uncovered (71): Burn Bright

Happy Friday, guys! Hope you all had a nice 4th. Mine was pretty uneventful. This week on Uncovered, I have a book that I've had my eye on for a while now. I first saw Burn Bright on a blog (sorry I can't remember which one one) about a year or two ago. I was immediately struck by the cover and loved the dark and intense mood of it. I also like the mix of photography and painting. There's something really moody and dark about it and the paint under the left eye makes it look like she is crying (but for what I don't know...).  The color palette is great and I love the pop of hot pink in the font. All of the covers in this series are beautiful and I was just dying to pick them up, only to find out that they were only available in Australia. :(

However, they are now finally available in the US and OMG - they are all FREE on Kindle right now. I don't know how long that's been going on or how long it'll last but you should get on it if you're even mildly interested in this series. All 3 books are currently free on Amazon. Link for you to Marianne de Pierres's Amazon page (this is an affiliate link). I just downloaded all 3. Below is a synopsis of Burn Bright in case you're on the fence about it. But really, for zero dollars I think you should give it a chance.
Book One of Night Creatures - Retra is a Seal from the city of Grave – sealed minds, sealed community. When her brother Joel runs away to Ixion, the island of ever-night, ever-youth and never-sleep, she is determined to find him. Retra endures the pain of her obedience strip to escape Grave and stow away on the Ixion barge. But the island is beyond anything she can imagine and she finds herself drawn deep into an intoxicating and dangerous world. What are the creatures calling to Retra from the shadows? Where is Joel? And why are the young people she meets, vanishing? Ixion may appear to be a place of bliss, but its secrets are deadly. Will the friends she makes, and the forging of an eternal bond with a Riper, be enough to save her from the darkness?
Anyone else love this cover? This is totally a case of I bought it because of the cover for me. I can't wait to read it! :)'
