Stacked (18): Johnny C. Stubbs

Hello! I hope that everyone is having a great weekend. The weather has been a bit less intense this week and temps have dropped significantly. I finished a couple of books this week, including What In God's Name? and The Postman Always Rings Twice (for book club). I hope to review both soon.

Apologies for the lack of cover pics this week. It's been a busy week and I just didn't have time to add the covers. But the titles all link back to Goodreads, as usual, in case you'd like to add any of these books to your shelves. Let's see what I got, shall we?

Borrowed

What In God's Name? by Simon Rich - This is a new book that I had just read about when I saw it at the library. It's about what the world would be like if Heaven was run as a corporation. A super fast, funny read.

The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook - I have never read a book by Meljean Brook but I have heard good things about this series.

Received

Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch - My friend gave me her copy of this book. I have been meaning to read it but have been putting it off because I don't love aliens. However, I love the covers and have read positive reviews of this series.

Uncontrollable (State of Grace #2) by S.R. Johannes - This is the second book in Johannes's YA series. Our YA site, Read Now Sleep Later, will be on the blog tour for this and I just got the digital ARC. I really enjoyed the first book and am looking forward to this one.

Totally random story coming up. My friend found a dog Sat morning wandering around her neighborhood. The dog had tags but the number, unfortunately, was disconnected and the address on the tag was an empty apartment. My friend took the dog over to our friend's house since we were all hanging out at the pool. OMG he is the cutest wiener dog. I love long bodies and short legs (wieners, Corgis, basset hounds) and we had a ton of fun hanging out with him. Hilariously his tag said that his name was Johnny C. Stubbs. I was calling him Jack though. The happy ending is that my friend had left his name at the shelter number on Johnny's tag and his owner eventually called the shelter looking for him. So he got to go home and I spent the afternoon with an adorable dog. Hope you're all having a great weekend!

The Iron Duke is a good romantic steampunk adventure. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it. What in God's Name sounds like a fun read too.

Happy reading, Thuy! I'm happy it cooled down too, even if it's only a short break. Have a great week!
