Manicure Monday (66): Grasshopper Jungle

Manicure Monday is a weekly feature where I combine my love of reading and nail polish and feature one of my current reads with a matching book manicure.

Hello! I hope you all had a good weekend. Saw The Fault In Our Stars last night and really liked it. It was really well done and very true to the book. For today's Manicure Monday, I am featuring Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith. Picked this one up at the library recently and knew that it was going to be a MM. The cover is just too green and fun not to do a manicure for it.

I dug around in my stash for the perfect green and came up with Sinful Colors High Strung, a very bright, chartreuse green. The formula on this was a little streaky and it took 4 thin coats to get it really opaque and smooth.

There isn't a lot going on in this cover, so I created a pretty simple look. Using a dotting tool and a silver polish (CND Silver Chrome) I made two little dots for the base of the grasshopper antennae.

Then I painted on the antennae using black acrylic paint and a small nail brush. I did this on both my thumb and middle finger. A coat of top coat and the manicure was complete.

This was a super easy look to create and I love how bright it is. I am only in the very beginning of this book but I am enjoying it. Andrew Smith writes in such a unique way and I love reading his stuff. I haven't had a lot of time to read this weekend but am hoping to read more of Grasshopper Jungle this week. :)
