Top Ten Tuesday: Books You'd Like To See On The Big Screen

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week focuses on a different topic and you make a top ten list from it! This week's topic is: Top Ten Eight Books You Would Like To See Made Into A Movie/TV Show.

I am going to amend this to include books/series I'd want to see made into a movie OR a tv show. There are just some stories that I don't think can be contained in one movie that I think would make a great television series. Some of these books probably already have movie deals in the works but I am just going by what I'd like to see. Here's my top ten list in no particular order.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer - If you didn't know that I loved this book already, you can see my review here. I just think it would be a great sci fi/fantasy series that I would totally watch.

Unwind by Neal Schusterman - I think this has a movie deal already. Such a great, tense story that I think would make a fabulous film.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon - I loved this book by Michael Chabon about friendship, family and the rise of the comic book. I think it had a movie deal at one point that died but it's such a rich story that I think would make a wonderful movie.

Y: The Last Man by Brian K Vaugh (tv series) - What would happen if all the males on earth died? Well read Y: The Last Man and find out. This series has everything - action, romance, science, and even a monkey. I don't think the story could be told in one movie but a tv series would be perfect.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Such a cute story that I think would make a really cute movie. Throw in a great soundtrack and I think we'd have a winner.

Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson series) by Patricia Briggs (tv series) - I love this series so much! I know it has shades of True Blood in it but it's really very different. However, I think fans of Sookie/True Blood would enjoy the series and I think it would make a great tv show in its own right.

A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore - Hilarious story about Death. Why haven't any Christopher Moore books been make into movies?

Fables by Bill Willingham (tv series) - So Fables was optioned for a television series a few years back, but it never happened. Unfortunately, with the popularity of Once Upon A Time (which I like) and the similarities between these two series, it's unlikely now that a Fables series will ever happen. However, it is a GREAT series that I definitely think you should read, esp if you like OUAT.

Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride - This would be a hilarious movie. Someone needs to make this happen.

That's all I have for you today. What do you think of my list? Hit me up with your TTT links and I'll stop by. Thanks and happy Tuesday!

  1. Unwind could be good. I hope they don't mess it up. They have to keep all the creepy!

  2. Yes and Yes to Cinder and Unwind. Unwind would be so creepy but I would love to see it.
Wouldn't it be great to see an Anna movie? Who would play Etienne? Someone unknown I think. And agree it would have to have a great soundtrack.

    Love your picks!

  3. I really like your list. I haven’t read any of the books but most are on my TBR and do seem like they’d be great movies. I really don’t know why Christopher Moore’s books haven’t been made into movies. I just finished Lamb and saw it on one other list. I think it could be hard to adapt so maybe that’s why. A Dirty Job is the next book by him that I want to read. Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

  4. I haven't read Cinder yet, but I feel like it would probably make a great movie from what I know about it. And YES to Anna! It would be so cute & swoon-worthy.

  5. Y: The Last Man, yes, yes! I completely agree; I LOVE that series. It was rumoured to be becoming a movie with Shia LaBeouf, but I'm not sure that's still happening.

And to answer the question you left on my blog, that's the UK cover for Fire.
