Manicure Monday (28): Clarity

Hello and thanks for stopping by the Manicure Monday feature here are Nite Lite. Today I am featuring Clarity by Kim Harrington. As you can see, I am actually reading an old ARC that I borrowed from a friend. I am trying to get through some of the books I've borrowed so I can give them back and make some room on my shelves. I haven't gotten very far into it yet but I really like it. I like the way Harrington writes Clare. She seems like a real teen and she's pretty badass. I am not sure where the story is going yet but I think it's going to be fun.

I started with a base of white with OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls from the Spiderman collection. It's kind of streaky but I like that it's a more muted white. I then sponged on a gradient with a pretty blue from American Apparel called The Valley. I wanted to mimic blue fade that is the background of this cover.

I tried to do a watercolor type thing to mimic the sunspots on the cover, but that turned out pretty bad. Instead, I used an orange and yellow polish to just make some dots on my pinkie. It kind looks like it though it doesn't really have the exact same effect. 

Finally. I drew in some seagulls with a small nail brush and some dark grey nail polish. The seagulls came out better than I anticipated and I had a lot of fun making them.
