Manicure Monday (26): Me Before You

Hello and happy Monday! Well, as happy as a Monday can be. I hope you all had an awesome weekend. Today I have a fun and simple manicure for you. My book club selection this month is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and I spent the weekend reading it. I am working on a review right now but let me just say that you guys need to read this book.  It's not really the kind of book I would normally pick up but it's a beautiful and well written novel and I just can't stop thinking about it. I spent most of last week reading it and here is my manicure.

I inadvertently found the matching nail polish shade for this cover last week. I had a hankering for some butter LONDON nail polishes and ended up going to my local Ulta store to buy a couple. I went back and forth for a long time between two reds and finally picked butter LONDON Macbeth, which is the orange-y red that is the base of my manicure. I did a whole manicure in it and then realized the next day that it perfectly matched the cover to Me Before You.

I figured it was fate and decided to base my manicure on that shade. While I really like this cover, with its simple type and eye catching color, it really didn't give me much to go on for nail art. I like the looping, swirly typography and decided to try to recreate the feel of it in a fishtail chevron manicure. I used this tutorial from Chalkboard Nails to get the look just right. I used the basic Wet N Wild black and white creme polishes over Macbeth to create the fishtails. Just for kicks I inverted the colors of the chevron on my ring finger.

I like how this came out. It's pretty simple but it was really eye catching in person. I am pretty dexterous and can do most designs on both hands, but I tried to do this one on my non-dominant hand and it came out a hot mess. I should have taken a picture for you guys, but it looked awful. This was definitely a one-hand only manicure. :)

Thanks for checking out my manicure this week. Read this book if you haven't yet. It's one of my favorite books this year.

Leave a link if you decide to participate in Manicure Monday and I will stop by. Have a week! :)
