Hello, everyone. I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. It's been uncommonly warm this weekend which has prompted me to get out of the house a bit. It's hard to stay inside when it's so pretty out. This week was a pretty small book acquisition week for me. I am fine with that though because I have so many books in the queue already. Both books I got this week are somewhat creepy sounding historicals. Haha guess I am in the mood for something dark.

The Painted Bridge by Wendy Wallace - This is my book club's March pick. I have been wanting to read this one. It's about a woman who gets sent to the insane asylum by her husband. Sounds like it could be really good.

The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd - I picked this up at the library this week. I was surprised that they actually had more than one copy. It's the fictional account of the daughter of Dr. Moreau (yes, that Dr. Moreau). I have only read a few pages but they've already started talking about blood and cadavers. Definitely dark.

Not much else has been going on this week. I really wanted to see a movie or something silly this weekend but I don't really want to see anything that is out. I guess I'll just read instead. :) Have an awesome day!

  3. The Painted Bridge sounds very intriguing even if it sounds so tense I'd be on the edge of my seat aching for her to prove herself sane.

I was totally turned off of The Madman's Daughter when I heard there were experiments on animals? Not my thing. :-s

    1. i know. the idea of getting stuck in an asylum with no one believing your sanity is so scary to me.

and yes, there is some animal testing stuff but it's portrayed as a negative. it's not a good thing.

  4. I like the sound and the look of The Painted Bridge. Hope you and your book club enjoy it! My e-book library copy of Madman's Daughter expired, so I'll have to try it again sometime. Glad you're liking it so far. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday! It's a little gloomier today, huh?
