Stacked (7): Shadow And Bone At Last!

Hi, everyone! Welcome to another edition of Stacked, my weekly haul post where I show you what I've bought, borrowed and received for the week.

This week was a big book week for me. There were several book events in my area that I went to and I bought lots of books. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo finally came out. I was lucky enough to be able to go to Leigh's launch party on Monday and got my copy of Shadow and Bone signed. We have a recap of the event here. We also went to the Fierce Reads tour stop at Mrs. Nelson's Books and met Leigh (again), Marissa Meyer (Cinder), Emmy Laybourne (Monument 14), Jennifer Bosworth (Struck), Anna Banks (Of Poseidon) and Jessica Brody (My Life Undecided). That was a really fun night and all of the ladies were so cool and sweet. We'll have a recap of that event up on our YA side, Read Now Sleep Later, soon. I already had several of the books for that tour and ended up only buying 3 new ones (only - ha!). We also went to see Marissa Meyer again on Thursday. I already have a signed book from her so we just came to support Marissa and the store. It was very fun and a good end to my bookish events for the week.

I also had a bunch of library books come in so yeah, lots of book this week. But I am totally not complaining. :) As usual, clicking on the book titles will take you to their Goodreads page.

Bought

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - You can see that I got some fun swag at the launch party and also got my book signed. I just started the book this week and, so far, it's excellent.

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks - I am a big fan of mermaids but I haven't read too many mermaid books. I hear good things about this one and Anna was hilarious. She's so dry and sarcastic and made me laugh a lot.

Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne - Kids stuck in a shopping mall! What could be more terrifying that that? Really interested in this one and the cover is made out of some cool, textured material. Win!

Struck by Jennifer Bosthworth - This is the book that I most wanted to read. A girl who is a lightning addict has to be interesting, right? And Jennifer was awesome. We had a lovely conversation about cults and horror movies.

Borrowed

The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman - I've been wanting to read this one and my library just got in a stack of new YA books. Score for me!

Ripper for Stefan Petrucha - I have a lot of books with blood and gory things in them this week. This one is about Jack the Ripper and is another one I've had my eye on.

I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga - K, now I am creeping myself out. Another serial killer book. I have heard this described as Dexter for teens and I love Dexter. This was my pick for our book club this month

The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda - Hmmm, I might need to read some fun contemps after this pile. I read a snippet of this awhile back and thought it was pretty interesting. I'll have to read more to see what it's about but it was engaging.

River Cottage Every Day - Hey, something light finally. Another cookbook I've been looking to try out so I it from the library first to see if I want to buy it.

Aran Knits and The Principles of Knitting - Two knitting books I wanted to look at. Principles of Knitting is a re-issue of an old book and the library edition is huge. Man I had trouble carrying all of these books out.

The Magicians by Lev Grossman (not pictured) - I got this from the Overdrive library. After seeing Lev speak at the LA Fest of Books with John Green, I moved his book to the top of the TBR pile.

Won

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows - I won an ARC of this a long time ago from YA Booktwins. I had seriously forgotten about it when it showed up at my house earlier this week. I really want to read this one so thanks, ladies!

That's my book haul for this week. This weekend for my movie pick, it's a toss up between Prometheus and Moonrise Kingdom. I have a feeling it'll be Prometheus but we'll see.  I'd love to know what you're reading to please leave links to your haul posts. :)
