As you can see, I am trying out a new feature here on NL. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you've probably noticed that I have a slight obsession with nail polish. I love all makeup really but nail polish is sort of my thing and all my friends know me as a bit of a polish hoarder. So to spice things up I thought I would try out a new feature where I share what I am currently reading as well as what's currently on my nails. We'll see if this feature will stay depending on the feedback.
So I've been reading Gail Carriger's Etiquette & Espionage. I am a big fan of her Parasol Protectorate series and was super excited to hear that she had a new YA series coming out. I am about a third of the way through the book right now and have stalled a bit. It's not that I am not enjoying it. I don't know what it is but it's just not as engrossing as I want it to be. It is very similar to Parasol though and if you like that series, I think you will really like this. I am setting it down for a little bit while I read some books for an author event coming up but I definitely want to finish it.
And on my nails is Barry M Magnetic Violet. Barry M is a brand only found in UK drugstores. It was sent to me by my friend in Scotland. I am not a huge fan of the magnetic trend since it requires a really steady hand, but I have to say that I had a lot of fun wearing this one.
I love nail polish! Have you seen that new clear gel polish? You can use it with any color and it makes you regular nail polish last like a gel polish. I want to get some.
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about Etiquette and Espionage. I hope I like it. I liked Parasol so maybe I will.
thanks, opal! i do have a gel kit with light that i have used once. i have heard that you can use the top coat with any polish but i haven't tried it out yet. if you do, let me know how it works.
DeletePretty nails! They coordinate well with the book. I saw GC shared your post on her FB :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading Etiquette & Espionage soon. Sorry to hear it's not quite clicking yet. But maybe a break will help.
Looking forward to your next manicure/book pairing!
did she really? i missed that. must go look.
Deleteyes, i do hope that a break is what i need to get my interest back. sometimes you just gotta be in the mood, you know?
I had to stop-and-start also because I couldn't concentrate on the book while riding the bus. Then made myself a huge pot of tea and finished the rest in one sitting. I can't wait to get my own hardcover so I can read it again!
ReplyDeleteyeah i think i will get back to it after i read a bunch of books for that breathless reads event.
