Uncovered (101): Prudence

We all know you can't judge a book by its cover. However, a good cover can be the deciding factor in picking up an unknown author for me. Uncovered is a weekly post where I share some of my favorite book covers.

Hello again! Yay for Friday. Fort his week's Uncovered post I have a book that I am very excited about. The cover gods have been very kind to Gail Carriger and I've pretty much liked or loved every book cover she's put out. The cover to Prudence, Carriger's new Soulless spin-off series is no exception. Like most of her covers, this one has a very modern steampunk vibe. I love the styling on this. The dress is great and I love the makeup (note to self to find that lipstick). I like the little steampunk touches like the gears on her hat and the hears around the title font. The colors are bright and rich and really catch the eye. I also like that there's a continuity in the styling for all of Carriger's covers. No mismatched covers here.

Another great cover from Gail Carriger and one that I can't wait to see in person. What do you think? Love it or leave it? Let me know in the comments below. Have a good weekend!

Etiquette & Espionage - Book Trailer

I am not usually one for book trailers as they generally feature bad special effects and bad acting, but I just had to share this trailer for Gail Carriger's new upcoming book, Etiquette & Espionage. I love the paper cutout figures and the somewhat hoity English voice narrating. I think it's a perfect fit for the tone of the series. I know I keep talking about this book but it's because I am so excited about it!

Etiquette & Espionage hits stores Feb 5, 2013.

Do you like book trailers in general or avoid them like me?

Manicure Monday (1): Etiquette & Espionage

As you can see, I am trying out a new feature here on NL. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you've probably noticed that I have a slight obsession with nail polish. I love all makeup really but nail polish is sort of my thing and all my friends know me as a bit of a polish hoarder. So to spice things up I thought I would try out a new feature where I share what I am currently reading as well as what's currently on my nails. We'll see if this feature will stay depending on the feedback.

Etiquette & Espionage

So I've been reading Gail Carriger's Etiquette & Espionage. I am a big fan of her Parasol Protectorate series and was super excited to hear that she had a new YA series coming out. I am about a third of the way through the book right now and have stalled a bit. It's not that I am not enjoying it. I don't know what it is but it's just not as engrossing as I want it to be. It is very similar to Parasol though and if you like that series, I think you will really like this. I am setting it down for a little bit while I read some books for an author event coming up but I definitely want to finish it.

Etiquette & Espionage

And on my nails is Barry M Magnetic Violet. Barry M is a brand only found in UK drugstores. It was sent to me by my friend in Scotland. I am not a huge fan of the magnetic trend since it requires a really steady hand, but I have to say that I had a lot of fun wearing this one.

So what did you guys think of this post? Too weird? Am I the only one who likes nail polish? Leave your feedback in the comments below. Thanks!
