Uncovered (45): Alien In The House

Hello again! This week on Uncovered, I have the newly revealed cover to the seventh installment in Gini Koch's Alien series, Alien In The House. Like all the covers in the series, this one is by the talented Dan Dos Santos. He also does the covers to the popular Mercy Thompson series and is definitely one of my favorite cover artists.

I love this cover because, well, it looks like an awesomely fun book. I really like the unique layout with the images set in the rifle sights. It's dynamic but not confusing. The main female figure looks pretty badass as well. I am also really curious about what those two little creatures in the right bottom corner are. They look like demonic hedgehogs.

I actually have not started this series yet (perhaps another one to add to my Start The Series Challenge) but I really want to. Has anyone read this series yet? Are the aliens awesome and what exactly are those alien hedgehogs? :)

Uncovered (27): Frost Burned

I saw this lovely cover at Comic Con and swooned. This might possibly be my favorite Mercy Thompson cover ever. They're all gorgeous but there is just something about this one that just screams Mercy to me. I love that her expression is a little bit soft but still with a glint of badass in it. Love the tats and her Mercy's hair is looking great. I also like the haziness of the background - it's mysterious and puts the emphasis on Mercy. I am a fan of all the covers, but this one is special.

Dan Dos Santos, the artist behind the previous Mercy Thompson covers, also did this one. Dan has a large body of work and, if you're a fan of sci fi or urban fantasy, chances are you've seen Dan's work around. Definitely check out Dan's website to see more of his work and the blog that he co-writes with a collective of talented artists. Frost Burned will be published in March 2013 by Ace Roc.

Uncovered (1): Even White Trash Zombies Get The Blues

Uncovered is a new feature of sorts where I will share a book cover and give some thoughts on it. I don't know if this will be a regular feature or just something I post when I find have something to share, but we'll see how it goes.

Thoughts:  I am LOVING this cover! It's no secret that I bought the first book in the series based solely on its cover (all the gorgeous pink!) and I really thought that the new cover would have a hard time competing. However, Dan Dos Santos does it again and delivers a fantastic cover for the sequel. I love the blue theme and the graffiti writing for the title. Angel's hair looks awesome again. Small details like the grimy toilet and her exasperated expression add to the overall feel of it. What do you think? Love it, hate it? Which do you like better? I am torn between the two. I really love the first cover but the new one is pretty awesome. I reserve choosing a favorite for now. I'd love to hear what you think! Even White Trash Zombies Gets The Blues comes out July 3, 1012.
