Uncovered (49): The Flight of Gemma Hardy

Happy Friday! Thanks for stopping by this week's Uncovered post. This week I am featuring The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey. This one's been out for a little while already. What do I love about this cover? Well I love the angle of the photo. It's quite unusual and give the photo a sort of ominous feel, like we're creeping up on this girl from underneath the water. I also like that you can't see her face since I am definitely the type of person who likes to imagine how a character looks and not be influenced by the model on the cover. There's some creepy fog in the background, adding to the atmosphere of the scene. I have no idea why I find fog so creepy, but I do. I also really like the banner them of the title. Not what I would expect of a book with a realistic cover but it fits.

So what do you guys think? Do you like faces on your covers or not?

  1. I think it depends on what kind of emotion is being portrayed on the cover that will determined whether or not I like a face on it or not. Mostly I do like it though. And I do like the cover you chose.

I also find fog super creepy because it creeps up on you. At least that's how I always imagine it. I've never experienced it. When I picture it, I always have this image of it, slowly crawling up a dark street with dim lights. *shudder* I have too vivid of an imagination!
